The link between health and economic outcome has always been
a central issue for both economists and sociologists. They believe that people
earning higher incomes have more money to invest in human capital such as
improving and maintaining health, this means their standards of living improves
as their earning increases and they are able to invest in better diets,
improved sanitation and better health care. A healthy worker is less likely to
contract disease, and this means at work improves the opportunity to command
higher earning.
