Despite only being promoted from Serie C last season, Paysandu, are more than holding their own in the second tier. Five wins from their opening five matches has them up in fifth place and with the top four all earning promotion, if they carry on playing like this, they could be plying their trade with the likes of Sao Paulo and Corinthians in 12 months.
Opponents, Vitoria BA, are also new to this division but they came in from the wrong end having been relegated last term. Like Paysandu, they have also won five of their eight fixtures to date and because of their superior goal difference, their current position is third.
A feature of the visitors impressive start has been their ability to put the ball in the net on a regular basis. Vágner Mancini's side have netted 14 times already - a record that is only bettered by Macae. Thanks to nine conceded at the other end, their matches are averaging 2.88 goals each time. Half of their outings would have seen this selection win and that includes two of their last four.
The hosts don't have quite impressive stats but they do if we concentrate on their home results only. Dado Cavalcanti's men have played four times in front of their own fans and three of those have all seen three goals scored. The only one that didn't was their opener against leaders, Botafogo.
This should be a good game between two teams who were two division apart a few months ago. I think the goals will flow, so with under 2.5 trading at around the 1.91 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
