Leicester v Liverpool: Back goals at the King Power

Leicester v Liverpool

Leicester

It's been an eventful few years for Leicester, and the latest chapter in this remarkable story revealed itself late on Monday night as the club's owners announced they had sacked manager Claudio Ranieri less than nine months after he'd steered the club to their first ever top flight title.

No room for sentiment then, and the Foxes must now turn their attention to Liverpool's visit to the King Power Stadium all the while looking over their shoulders for the spectre of relegation which looms large. Caretaker boss Craig Shakespeare must rally these beleaguered players and try and unite them.

Islam Slimani is a doubt with a groin injury.

Liverpool

Manager Jurgen Klopp called Leicester's decision to fire Ranieri 'mystifying' this week, and it's not surprising the likable German was disappointed to see a fellow manager suffer such a fate.

Klopp has problems of his own however - a recent run of poor form has seen his side drop to fifth in the Premier League, and with Manchester Unitedplaying in the EFL Cup final the Reds have a chance to put four points between them and their local rivals in sixth place.

The Foxes are in disarray and are there for the taking - but Liverpool must guard against that dreaded bounce that can occur when a team fire a manager.

Georginio Wijnaldum, Dejan Lovren, Lucas Leiva and Daniel Sturridge are all doubts.

Match Odds

1.66 is short enough about an away team that have won just once in their last six league games, but that's the price Liverpool are currently trading at. I don't tend to back any team at odds-on away from home in the Premier League - there's too many upsets too regularly for that, it seems.

Having said all that, Leicester are utterly atrocious and look bereft of confidence in every aspect currently. They can't score, they can't stop conceding and they almost certainly can't compete with this Liverpool side that looked so impressive against Spurs last time out.

You'll get 5.90 on a home win here, but it's tough to see that outcome given the way that the Foxes have played of late - five points from their last ten games. It's relegation form, whichever way you slice it.

The Draw is available at 4.30.

Over/Under 2.5 Goals

I am pleasantly surprised to see Overs trading as high as 1.91, chiefly becauseLiverpool don't have any trouble scoring (no-one has scored more goals than them in the top flight this season) and Leicester cannot defend to save their lives.

Those of you with a good memory will remember a handy 4-1 win in the first fixture between these two earlier in the season, but despite all this Opta tell us the average amount of goals garnered in games between them is just 2.33.
That's not putting me off though - I like that price on three or more.

Unders is available at 2.16.

Recommended Bet Back Over 2.5 Goals at 1.91

Bundesliga Betting: Bayern to extend winning streak

Bayern to continue their recovery Mainz v Bayern Munich Saturday 27 October, 14:30 Live on Betfair Live Video Although Bayern are still four points adrift of Borussia Dortmund in the title race, and therefore aren't quite out of crisis mode yet, there are signs that under-fire coach  Niko Kovac  is turning the ship around. A 3-1 win at Wolfsburg last Saturday was followed by a vital 2-0 victory at AEK Athens in the Champions League. Neither victory was particularly sparkling, but the background noise has at least died down a little, and a win at Mainz would underline the impression that Bayern are heading in the right direction once again. Mainz are perhaps the perfect opponents for Bayern at the moment. The  Opta  stats show that Bayern have beaten Die Nullfunfer in 10 of the last 12 attempts, and last season they beat them 4-0 and 2-0. After a promising start to the campaign, a young Mainz team has really started to struggle. They  haven't scored ...
