Fantasy Premier League Week 21 Transfers and Tips: Lin-Gard against missing out

With West Ham and Spurs not playing in GW21, fantasy managers may need to think about squad rotation. Neil Monnery is here with who his fancies for games on Saturday and Sunday.

Eight to like

Wayne Rooney - £7.5m. The former England captain has recovered from the virus that kept him out of the past two games. Coming off the back of three straight games scoring and travelling to Bournemouth, who play a very open game, this looks like a slam dunk selection.
Richarlison - £6.5m. Eight games without a goal doesn't scream a great fantasy play but sometimes you look at players and just think that they are due. He is still getting into great positions but can't find the back of the net. Swansea at home is the type of game where he has every chance to recapture that fine early season form.
Richarlison is currently trading at 2.76 to score at anytime in the Watford v Swansea match on the Exchange
Jesse Lingard - £6.1m. I wrote about him in the last column but since then he's scored twice as a substitute. It seems abundantly clear that he's the Manchester United midfielder in the best form and fantasy wise he's relative peanuts. Only 7.9% of teams have selected him, that should be doubled soon enough. Southampton at home is a great spot for him.

Calum Chambers - £4.7m. When the Arsenal team sheet came out for the Thursday night game with Crystal Palace, the return of Chambers was the big surprise. An even bigger shock was when Alan Parry on commentary said that only Manchester United have recorded more Premier League clean sheets than Arsenal so far this season. If he stays in the team, he's a sneaky good fantasy option.

Leroy Sané - £8.5m. The young German has come back down to Earth from his September-October form but the time is right to expect another strong pointscoring run. He hasn't started three of his past seven but no-one has grabbed that left sided attacker spot with both hands. Crystal Palace away is a game for express pace over skill.
Álvaro Morata - £10.6m. His goal against Brighton on Boxing Day was his first for a while. After three games out he's had time to rest up and get fresh, this shouldn't be overlooked. The Premier League season is a long, hard slog so players will go through spells of poor form and feeling lethargic. Some time out can really reinvigorate a player and that is what I expect to see from Morata.
Alvaro Morata is currently trading at 3.65 to open the scoring in the Chelsea v Stoke match on the Exchange

Trent Alexander-Arnold - £4.2m. After a stellar second half display on Boxing Day, you would expect to see the young Englishman keep his spot in the Liverpool side this week. At just £4.2m, you can potentially get a defender from a top four team. That is always worth looking at.

Ashley Barnes - £5.2m. If you are looking for a bargain basement third striker then the one to key in on this week is Ashley Barnes. With Chris Wood expected to miss out with a knee injury, the chance to lead the line against Huddersfield gives you the solid prospect of a cheap goal or assist.
Ashley Barnes is currently trading at 7.20 to open the scoring in the Huddersfield v Burnley match on the Exchange

Two to avoid

Harry Maguire - £5.3m. Currently selected by 10.5% of teams, this week ensure you bench him. Anytime you go up against this Liverpool team with a goalkeeper or defender, it is prudent not to be a hero.

Xherdan Shaqiri - £6.1m. 8% of teams have selected the Stoke midfielder but he hasn't registered a goal or assist in his past five starts. Plenty of better options in that price range and Chelsea away is not where you'd back him to stop that streak.

Captain's pick

Manchester City and Liverpool attack minded players as per usual are your obvious choices. I like Wayne Rooney as well this week to perform well on the Dorset coast. Romelu Lukakuis also a player to consider as he's primed to get back into a rich vein of form and Southampton are no great shakes.

Southampton v Arsenal: Gunners set for a night of frustration

Southampton v Arsenal Wednesday, 19:45 Southampton  Claude Puel has done a decent job at Southampton this season, but his future at the club could rest on how well his team performs in their last four games of the season. The Saints can finish as high as eighth or as low as 16th. A bottom-half finish could be enough to seal the fate of the former Nice manager, with rumours suggesting that the club hierarchy are considering his future. It's true that Southampton's Premier League campaign has been rather underwhelming, with the side struggling to find any consistency this season, yet Puel did guide them to the EFL Cup final. He's inherited a weaker squad than previous managers enjoyed, which has lacked firepower for much of the season. Charlie Austin could return against Arsenal to help to solve that problem, while the defender Matt Targett is another player in contention. Virgil can Dijk remains out. Arsenal The Gunners gave themselves hope o...
