Bet 1: Back Watford to beat Swansea at 1.70
Can Carlos Carvalhal turn things round for Swansea? Saving a club that is five points adrift in the Premier League is unlike any challenge he has faced before, and even if he is able to keep them up, it's likely to take a while to turn around a team that is five points adrift and leaking goals. Swansea's last outing was a Boxing Day thrashing at Anfield, and they've now conceded thirteen goals in four games.
Watford have had their own problems at the back in recent weeks, having allowed an average of two goals in each of their last four fixtures, but they should have an easier time of it this weekend. As Mike Norman points out in his Saturday Premier League Preview, in addition to their defensive woes, Swansea have also been struggling to find the net of late. The Swans have managed just four goals in their last six Premier League outings, so shouldn't give the Watford back line too many anxious moments.
Bet 2: Back Sydney Thunder to beat Hobart Hurricanes at 1.80
Sydney Thunder have an odd record in the Big Bash League. They've finished last or next to last in five of the six editions, the one exception being 2015, when they won it.
Two defeats in their opening three games might suggest that they will be spending this year's tournament at the wrong end of the table again, but their most recent defeat against the Brisbane Heat was a last over affair that could have gone either way.
While the Thunder line-up doesn't have many stars in the bowling department, they do boast plenty of Twenty20 experience and a couple of potential match winners in Jos Buttler and Shane Watson. Against an extremely weak looking Hobart side that was well beaten in their opener, the Thunder look a good bet.
Bet 3: Back Newcastle to beat London Irish at 1.57
London Irish fans looking for encouraging stats might find some comfort in the fact that Newcastle haven't won a Premiership game at the Madjeski Stadium since 2009, but otherwise, the outlook is fairly bleak for the Exiles this weekend.
The home side have not won a game in the Premiership since their opening fixture against Harlequins and haven't managed a win at this ground all season. By contrast, the Falcons go into this game in top form. They've won their last four in all competitions and their only defeats on the road have come against top-three sides Wasps and Exeter. Back the visitors to grab the points on Saturday.
