Football Bet of the Day: Start the week with a bang

Kevin Hatchard returns to the tiller, and he's sailing us to Norway first.

Molde to play out another thriller

Start v Molde
Monday 29 October, 18:00
As it turned out, Le Classique wasn't quite the classic that Tobias hoped for, and PSG's 2-0 win at Marseille left him halfway to heaven with his Over 3.5 Goals bet.
We'll kick off our week in Norway, because Start are up against Molde in the Eliteserien, and we're hoping to be entertained.
Start are hovering above the dropzone, but have been on a survival charge of late, winning four of their last five matches in the league. An increase in offensive output has underpinned that improvement - Start have scored at least twice in five of their last six games in league and cup. It's therefore no surprise that all bar one of those six matches has featured at least three goals.
Molde are trying to secure at least a top-three finish, and are also on strong form, having claimed 13 points from their last five games. You have to go back to June for the last time that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team failed to score in the league, and 14 of their last 19 league games have seen an Over 2.5 Goals bet land.
Four of the last five meetings between these teams have featured at least three goals, and I don't think this clash will buck that trend. I'll back Over 2.5 Goals at 1.77.
RECOMMENDED BETS
Back Over 2.5 Goals at 1.77

Tottenham’s Dele Alli eyes Premier League debut at Manchester United

It was quite the opening statement. Dele Alli, 24 minutes into his first start in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, suckered in Luka Modric of Real Madrid, nutmegged him and accelerated away. The 70,000 sell-out crowd at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena roared at the 19-year-old’s sheer impudence. "We had a laugh about it in the tunnel afterwards; he was very good about it,” Alli said. "He shook my hand and said to me: ‘You little bugger’ – or something like that. I didn’t shout ‘nuts’ when I did it. I used to do that when I was young and get told off for it." As Alli spoke at the Allianz after Tuesday’s 2-0 Audi Cup victory, some of Real’s galácticos filed past. This time last year the midfielder was preparing for MK Dons’ League One season opener against Gillingham. His previous competitive game was for MK against Yeovil in May. Alli says “unreal” and “surreal” on a number of occasions and it is little wonder. This is a young player of conviction. If the nutmeg on one of...
